Directors Bio
A British-Japanese filmmaker making character-led documentaries and premium factual series with cinematic scope and intimate portraiture. Her work bridges cultures and re-centres marginalised voices, with a particular focus on British East and South East Asian (BESEA) stories.
Georgie has directed an award-winning body of work across series, films and podcasts for outlets including Netflix, Channel News Asia and the BBC, exploring the intersection of human experience and socio-political forces, from racial identity in Japan and rising anti-feminism in South Korea to hostage negotiations with Boko Haram and trauma recovery in war veterans.
She has served as Supervising Producer for the Netflix Documentary Talent Fund since its inception and Director of Rising Waves, an organisation amplifying BESEA voices across the arts and media industries. Through this work she was an inaugural recipient of the Film + TV Charity’s Reel Impact Fund. She has served on juries for the Edinburgh TV Festival, the Grierson Awards and BAFTA Documentary, and contributes to talent development through industry activity including producing and hosting the Edinburgh TV Festival’s first Forum panel dedicated to BESEA representation in UK television, and delivering a pitching workshop for Channel 4.
Georgie was recognised as a promising industry leader through FILM LONDON’s Breaking Glass Ceiling cohort, received the Frame Focus Fund from WDM Entertainment, and was selected for Ones to Watch by the TV Foundation. Most recently, she was named a Film London Lodestar (Crew & Industry award) and announced as part of the 2025/2026 BAFTA Elevate cohort.
Recent credits include Producer/Director of The Negotiators for CNA, Unit Director on the Netflix series Heart of Invictus under Oscar-winning producer Joanna Natasegara and director Orlando von Einsiedel.
